This beautiful and very useful shopping basket was made by hand by the Puupeelum group of weavers in Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana.
The grasses used to weave this item grow wild and are gathered, prepared and naturally dyed by members of the group, ready to be woven into a unique, biodegradable piece.
The baskets measure a generous 30cms high and 50cms end to end. The handles are big enough to sit on the shoulder and are bound with cow hide to make them more comfortable to hold.
You can, of course, use these baskets for shopping, but also to hold craft projects, craft materials, blankets and all manner of things.
