Description
Our fine weave sisal baskets are made out of sisal which is grown by the basket weavers themselves. The sisal twine is rolled thinner than 2mm, so a very high density of knots can be achieved, making it lighter than its practical counterpart of the same size.
Weaving baskets is a tradition in Taita tradition. Most of our basket makers meet every two weeks to weave baskets together (and have a chat!); they then continue weaving at home, on the bus or whilst walking to visit their neighbours.
This small basket is 18cms/7″ in diameter and 18cms/7″ tall.
