These beautiful little baskets have been a very popular item at the yarn-related events I have attended over the last 9 months. They are 20cms high and 25cms end to end. The handles are bound with cow hide to make them more comfortable to hold.
You can, of course, use these baskets for shopping, but they are great for storing small craft projects, craft materials, soaps, and all manner of things.
They are made by hand by the Puupeelum group of weavers in Bolgatanga, Northern Ghana. The grasses used to weave them grow wild and are gathered, prepared and naturally dyed by members of the group, ready to be woven into a unique, biodegradable piece.
